Yosemite 2011

This was our second year taking a trip to Yosemite with friends. My friend Trena has been going since she was a kid and included us (and some other friends) in her annual trip. This year we stayed 4 nights and it was cold and rainy! We went up Friday and by Saturday afternoon it was pouring and freezing. There were a few times we all considered throwing in the towel and heading home but we stuck it out and ended up getting some blue skies. And of course the day we left was beautiful and there was not a cloud to be found!
One of the best parts of the trip is seeing how much Caroline enjoys it. It is pretty much a 5 day long playdate! This year both of our kids had issues with sleeping, which meant we got almost no sleep at all, but with that and the terrible weather, we still managed to have a great time!! The pictures took forever to upload onto here and there all out of order, but they still document our trip.

This was actually our last full day. We took the bus to Yosemite Village and just walked around for the morning.
The most exciting part of the trip for the girls was (sadly) the bus...and the squirrels. We would show Caroline a deer or even a bear and she was interested...until a shuttle drove by. Then all of the girls would yell, "A bus! We see a bus!" This went on all day, every day. :)

This is Sierra and Caroline sitting on the shuttle reading their maps.

Sweet girls
We did not anticipate the freezing cold weather and poor Owen did not have warm enough clothes. Luckily Trena had an extra fleece suit for Samantha that she let Owen wear. It may be girly, but it sure kept him warm!
Love these girls!

She was navigating for Scott. "You go over the lake, down the slide and into the campground" :)

On Sunday we had decent weather and hiked to Mirror Lake. It was an easy hike and the kids loved spending time running around.

Waiting for that bus again. :)
On Saturday we hiked to Lower Yosemite Falls in a light rain. It was cold!
This deer let us get close enough where we could (but didn't) touch it.

Scott got hot during our hike and since we took a less traveled trail, decided to take off a layer. I couldn't resist taking pictures. :)

Caroline Sleeping :)

Scott and I always go in to check on Caroline before we go to bed and we never know what we may find. She likes to read books before going to sleep and just like her Mama, she frequently falls asleep while still reading. Yesterday, Scott added all his cell phone pictures to the computer and because seeing all of these pictures made us laugh, I thought I would share them with everyone. :)

This one was from way back...she is still in her crib.

I just love this girl!

Happy Birthday Caroline!

It's hard to believe that my baby girl is 3. She is such a sweet, smart and sassy little girl and I wouldn't change a thing about her. Instead of listing all of the things she can do and what she likes, I am stealing (borrowing?) an idea from other blogs and interviewing Caroline. :)

How does it feel to be 3?
"Good because I like being 3."

What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?
"Applesauce for breakfast"
"Macaroni and cheese for lunch and macaroni and cheese for dinner."
Don't worry, I don't actually let her eat that much mac and cheese. :)

What is the best part of being a big girl?
"Being a princess and playing with my friends."

What is your favorite thing to do/play?
"To not hit is good." (Can you tell we have had issues with this?)
What else do you like to play?
"My Mickey Mouse puzzle with Mommy."

What is your favorite movie/book?
Movie: Little Mermaid
Book: Ain't Gonna Paint No More

Tahoe

For Scott's birthday, we took a quick trip to Tahoe for a few days. We didn't do too much (which was awesome!) and had a nice relaxing few days. Scott and Caroline made a snowman and played in the snow. It was a fun trip!

More visitors!

Scott's dad came for a weekend to visit. We didn't do much....he was pretty happy just holding Owen (Owen seems pretty happy too). :)

Gary and Scott took Caroline fishing
Scott's sister also came for a visit (last week). Owen seems pretty happy here too. :)

Sarah really wanted pictures with Caroline and Caroline was not having it. Such a stinker!

2 months

I can't believe my little guy is already 2 months old! He is full of smiles these days which makes my heart melt. He had is 2 month appt the other day and he is

-14lbs 3oz! (95th percentile)
-22 1/2 inches (75th percentile)
-wearing 3-6 month clothes
-still waking a bunch at night--he had been sleeping a 7-8 hour stretch, but the past few nights has gone back to only a 4-5 hour stretch. I am hoping we get back on track soon!
-pretty mellow which is the opposite of his sassy sister. :)
-a snuggle bug and would prefer to nap on someone than in his bed (although he sleeps in his bed at night)

We just love our little guy and can barely remember our lives without him.

Let's go fly a kite

Caroline got Scott a kite for his birthday and I think she likes flying it more than he does. :)

They DO look alike!

When Owen was born, he was so much bigger than Caroline that it was hard to imagine that they had any similarities. They are such different babies in so many ways. I was looking at baby pictures of Caroline and they actually look a lot alike. He is just a bit chunkier. :)
