Yosemite 2011

This was our second year taking a trip to Yosemite with friends. My friend Trena has been going since she was a kid and included us (and some other friends) in her annual trip. This year we stayed 4 nights and it was cold and rainy! We went up Friday and by Saturday afternoon it was pouring and freezing. There were a few times we all considered throwing in the towel and heading home but we stuck it out and ended up getting some blue skies. And of course the day we left was beautiful and there was not a cloud to be found!
One of the best parts of the trip is seeing how much Caroline enjoys it. It is pretty much a 5 day long playdate! This year both of our kids had issues with sleeping, which meant we got almost no sleep at all, but with that and the terrible weather, we still managed to have a great time!! The pictures took forever to upload onto here and there all out of order, but they still document our trip.

This was actually our last full day. We took the bus to Yosemite Village and just walked around for the morning.
The most exciting part of the trip for the girls was (sadly) the bus...and the squirrels. We would show Caroline a deer or even a bear and she was interested...until a shuttle drove by. Then all of the girls would yell, "A bus! We see a bus!" This went on all day, every day. :)

This is Sierra and Caroline sitting on the shuttle reading their maps.

Sweet girls
We did not anticipate the freezing cold weather and poor Owen did not have warm enough clothes. Luckily Trena had an extra fleece suit for Samantha that she let Owen wear. It may be girly, but it sure kept him warm!
Love these girls!

She was navigating for Scott. "You go over the lake, down the slide and into the campground" :)

On Sunday we had decent weather and hiked to Mirror Lake. It was an easy hike and the kids loved spending time running around.

Waiting for that bus again. :)
On Saturday we hiked to Lower Yosemite Falls in a light rain. It was cold!
This deer let us get close enough where we could (but didn't) touch it.

Scott got hot during our hike and since we took a less traveled trail, decided to take off a layer. I couldn't resist taking pictures. :)

Who knew buckets could provide so much entertainment?
