6 months old

I can't believe it has already been 6 months (and one week)! She has grown and changed so much. Caroline is eating food, sitting up really well and almost crawling now. It's crazy to see how much she can move around the room. She gets on her knees and elbows and bounces. Then she pushes forward. We'll have to try and get video of it. It is super cute!

Swinging

We took Caroline to the park last weekend and she loved the swing. My favorite part is watching her little feet move!

Look who is a big girl!

About a week ago Caroline had her first experience sitting in the front of the shopping cart. I can't believe how big she is! She likes her cozy cart cover and loves to look at all of the new people. I bring toys for her to play with while she is in the cart, but she would rather play with the things I am buying. Yesterday she was holding on to a bag of shredded cheese and when we went to pay, the cashier tried to take it, but Caroline was not happy about that! Finally the lady rang up the other bag of cheese twice. :)

Halloween

Well, we didn't go Trick-or-Treating this year and actually, Caroline didn't even stay up long enough to see the kids who came to our door! Despite that, she was the cutest kitty I have ever seen!!

A few more pictures

These are a few pictures from our vacation that were taken with Kate's camera. This is the house we stayed in.

Playing dominos...looks like I had a crappy hand. Scott was the big winner, but really I think Brian should get some recognition...he had the most points of any domino game EVER!! :)We met Scott's grandma and George for lunch one day. It was really nice for them to be able to meet Caroline! She even asked if I was planning on having more kids because she thinks Scott and I make beautiful babies.

Playing with the kiddos. :)

Baby girl wants to eat everything these days. She loved hitting Dillon's drum. Looks like I am going to have to get one of those for her soon!

Pumpkin Patch

While on vacation, we went to a farm with a pumpkin patch. There was a corn maze, animals, and a pumpkin patch. The corn maze was fun, although I think the exit we took was not intended to be an exit. Next year Caroline will actually be able to pick out her own pumpkin!

Starting solids!

A couple of weeks ago we started Caroline on solid foods. So far she has had rice cereal, oatmeal, green beans and sweet potatoes. These pictures are of her first experience with green beans. I was a little surprised that she liked it...I tasted them and thought they were pretty gross. :)

Black Mountain, NC

Since we will be moving next summer (I can't believe how fast our four years here is passing!) Scott and I are trying to see as much of NC as we can. We decided to rent a house in the mountains for the week and found a great one in Black Mountain. Originally the plan was to go to Asheville, but we never actually made it there. :)
We had a few days to ourselves and were then joined by Kate, Brian, Bridget and Dillon. We had a great time hanging around the house (and on the porch) and visiting near by towns. This was probably the best time of year to visit because of the leaves changing colors. It was really beautiful scenery. The weather was nice too. We had one rainy day, but the rest were perfect.

This picture was taken from our porch. The water was a little shallow, but Scott was able to try out the kayak I got him for his birthday. We also went to Lake Lure so he could have a little more time in the water.

This waterfall was a short walk from the house. Scott got some great pictures of it.

On my birthday, Scott, Caroline and I went to Chimney Rock. We climbed to the top and the view was amazing. The house we rented was in such a great spot because we were only about 10 mintues from Chimney Rock and Lake Lure.

Climbing to the top! Well, actually taking a break to catch my breath. :)

This was probably a little more than halfway to the top. I was not so sure about being up on that rock, but Scott talked me into it.

Scott caught this massive fish in the river that passed by the house. :)

View from the porch.
We had such a great time. It was nice for Caroline to have time to spend with her cousins. She and Dillon had fun playing together and Bridget really liked playing barbies with Brian! It was such a nice trip and we hope to take more soon!!

Awwwww

This was after Hayes' birthday party. She just had too much fun! I think she is so precious when she sleeps.

Grammy's visit

I just got back from taking my mom to the airport. We had a great time while she was here and Caroline was so happy to spend time with her Grammy! We all can't wait to see her (and Grandpa) again for Christmas in CA!!
We went to the "Festifall" on Franklin Street and Caroline had her picture/cartoon drawn. While sitting on my lap, she was chatting up a storm and drawing quite a crowd. She would catch someone's eye and start chatting with them. It was so cute! While we walked around after, people came up to us saying that they saw her being drawn and how cute she was. Such a performer!
This was at Hayes' birthday party. Her dad (and everyone else) thought it was pretty funny that she wanted the beer bottle. I realize that this picture makes us a little WT. but I thought I would post it anyway. :)

Great anniversary!

Yesterday was such a good day. Scott sent me flowers at home and when he got home I gave him a small gift and we exchanged cards. The traditional 3rd anniversary gift is leather so I gave him a leather frame with a picture of us in it. He cooked a great dinner (steak, potatoes and mixed vegetables) and I made dessert (butterscotch bread pudding with ice cream). We also opened our best bottle of wine! At 4:00 in the morning I discovered a Nordstrom box under my pillow and decided to open it right then. Scott got me the Hobo clutch/wallet that I have been wanting. I love it! He didn't even know about leather being the traditional gift but he got it anyway.
Such a sneaky guy. He put it there when he got home from work and it took me that long to discover it. How frustrating for him. :) All in all it was a great day!

Fun book series

I kept seeing these books at the book store, but kept passing them by. Then when we were in DC I needed a new book to read and I am terrible at picking books (Amy always does this for me!). This book seemed to be everywhere so I bought it and read it in two days. It turned out Amy had done the same thing (great minds think alike). We both loved it. It was written for "young adults" but it is a fun read.New Moon is the second book in this series. I didn't like it as much as the first, but it was still a fun and easy read. Amy and I are taking a break before reading the third book but I am sure it will not disappoint!

Our anniversary

Today is our 3rd anniversary! I can't believe how fast the time has gone by. I loved our wedding and I was sad when it was over. We had so much fun!! We are going to stay in for our anniversary this year (eating separately at a restaurant because the baby is crying isn't so much fun). :) Scott is making dinner and I am making dessert (something I have never made before...hopefully is doesn't turn out gross).

Grammy is coming!

My mom is coming for a visit tomorrow and Caroline and I are so excited! She hasn't seem Baby Girl since she was two months old. I can't believe how much she has grown/changed since then. My mom isn't even going to recognize her. :)
Scott is on call this weekend so most of the time it will be just us girls. There is a "festifall" in Chapel Hill that I think we will go to. Other than that we don't have too much going on. It will be nice to have a babysitter so I can get a few things done (dentist, pedicure...). So excited to see my mom!
